Go Ducks!

Welcome to our Oregon Duck Football Weekend!! Before moving to Oregon, we needed to establish our sports loyalties. Due to the colors and amazing mascot we decided to support the University of Oregon. This was our first football game, and it didn't disappoint.

On our way to the stadium!

Our seats were amazing

Rainie Falls Hike

Today was a typical Pacific Northwest day: overcast, rain, and cool. We went on a hike about 30 miles northwest of our home. The views were incredible, and the river was amazing. This same river travels through Grants Pass, approximately 500 yards from our home. Here are some pictures from the day:

Lake of the Woods Highway

Phil downloaded this picture from the ODOT camera on a highway that is on the way to his store in Klamath Falls, OR. This road is approximately 3o minutes from our home, where it was in the mid-50s. Note the altitude, time and temperature.

Crater Lake

Today we took a road trip to Crater Lake in Oregon. The foliage along the way was breathtaking. The trip took us 2 hours via Phil's Fastenal truck. We were not prepared for how beautiful and astonishing the view was from 7800 feet. The water was blue and calm--no waves to be seen. We drove around the rim, and each vantage point was better than the next. This truly is a wonder of the world. Here are a few pictures from our day. Keep in mind this lake is 1900 feet deep, the deepest in North America.

There were prescribed forest fires along the highway
outside the park.

This is the beginning of the Rogue River

Just an idea of our drive

The Phantom Ship in Crater Lake

Be careful-this is the water, not the sky

The Wizard's Hat, which is the cone of the old volcano.
Notice the drop off of the floor, which is evident by the change in colors.

Welcome!

Hey everyone! Phil and I decided to start a blog so that we can share our experiences with you back home. We moved in almost two weeks ago, and I plan to post some pictures of our new home. Hopefully a lot of you will be able to visit us out west, and we plan to show you a good part of where we live through this blog. We miss you very much and look forward to seeing you all soon!
